Clothes Shopping Pet Peeves: A Guy's Perspective
Clothes shopping is amazing. I'm one of the rare guy shopaholics. I LOVE to shop, and clothes shopping is no exception. Just ask my mom.
BUT. I still have a large handful of pet peeves that come with my experiences with clothes shopping. Furthermore, the things that annoy me are definitely different than girl's problems. I'm gonna need a guest blogger to give that point of view sometime. :)
1. 80% of men's clothes look like plastic grocery bags made of cloth. It's true. Most men's jeans are "loose" fit. Plenty of sweatshirts, jackets, t-shrits, shorts, and others, especially the larger sizes, are extremely baggy and don't fit my body type at all. Which is VERY frustrating.
2. The amount of men's clothes in the store, as compared to women's. It isn't 49% of the store. Nope, not even close. I always expect there to be a lot more women's clothes no matter what. I mean, women own more clothes and are expected to wear different styles of clothing, much more so than men. But when men get a little corner of the store, and women get huge sections based on just one clothing style, it makes me very irritated.
3. Color schemes. For crying out loud, men can wear more than blue or black. I do like the color schemes of some items. But others, like sweatshirts, shorts, and winter clothes still needs a lot of work. I would love to see more yellows, oranges (NOT hunting apparel either), and greens.
4. WHEN GIRLFRIENDS COME INTO THE MEN'S CHANGING ROOM WITH THEIR BOYFRIENDS. I HATE this. When you're in the changing room stall and you hear a woman's voice in the next room. And then you check under the wall and you see a pair of white GoldToe socks and a pair of high heels in the SAME ROOM. And then you realize it. Ugh. Hearing them murmuring to each other as the guy tries on his jeans and whatnot. And I'll stop now, this is getting to be tmi.
5. When there are more women shopping in the men's section than actual men. This it two people's faults: it's the men's fault for not doing their shopping on their own. And it's also the women's faults for not MAKING the men in their lives to buy their own clothes! Furthermore, when I'm shopping for my clothes, I don't like bumping into random elderly women shopping in the men's jeans section.
6. When there are only eight songs on the store's music playlist. This used to happen to me every time I was in JCPenny's. After being at the store for an hour, and you hear a certain song for the third time, it drives me crazy. Especially if they're songs I don't particularly enjoy.
7. The rewards card offers. I have NEVER been in a store that doesn't offer me to sign up for a rewards service at the cash register. Sometimes they're VERY pushy. I can't stand this. I would be much more likely to sign up for a rewards service if they weren't trying to ram it down my throat.
8. The sale area being over crammed with clothes. It's that part of the store with all the clothes from a year or two ago, marked down 80% or so. But the only problem is, the racks and hanging bars are always CRAMMED with the sale clothes that you can hardly look at them!
9. When men leave clothes in the men's changing rooms. For crying out loud. When every changing room have 10+ items in it, I'm not a happy camper. The only time I ever leave clothes in the room is when there is no place to put clothes in that didn't fit, or when I'm going back into the store to find a different size and coming right back.
10. When family members expect you to find half a dozen articles of clothing in a half hour. Seriously, clothes shopping takes time. So you have to willing to commit to it. People who don't realize that are mistaken.
Okay, that's the end of my rant. Can anyone relate, at all? Did you even like this style of blog post? Let me know in the comments, I love hearing from you!! :D Talk to you next week!!!

Very interesting post. I agree with about 4 things on your list. But hey everyone is different :) I personally like my clothing to fit a little loosely (no spandex here bruh). But yes the Men ails need some different styles, like not all dudes want to wear skinny jeans!
ReplyDeleteYes, I like this post. Haha, I'm a girl who likes shopping for food, books, stationary and hair products. BUT NOT CLOTHES. I may wear skirts all the time, but I'm pretty tomboyish. But maybe it isn't my tomboyishness. I hate shopping for clothes because there's always so many people in the shop, especially annoying people from my old school *rolls eyes* So I prefer to go in the morning (I wake up early so it's okay). Okay, to be honest, I've only bought myself one item of clothing. My mum bought the rest. I know, tragic. I say I wanna buy clothes but I end up not doing that. It's because clothes shopping takes too long, okay? I wanna get outta there ASAP.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I agree with the baggy male clothing. Bruh, my house could wear some of those clothes xD I can't xD
Yeah, I know. There aren't many men's clothing sections xD
I hate listening to music I don't like as well, man!
We have clothes offers over here in Ireland but they don't force them onto us xD
Girlfriends come into the men's changing room? CRIINGE.
Lol! What a fun post! I personally hate shopping, and the lack of practability in women's clothes in general. I think another reason for women hunting in the men's section (though probably not the case with older women), is to find practical, comfortable, or clothes of a more neutral nature.
ReplyDeleteI'm a girl, and I find myself wishing for some of these problems. There are way too many women's clothes that it's overwhelming, and once you find something you like, there's too many color options! :D
ReplyDeleteAnother shopaholic! As the only one in my family, I get teased quite a bit about my shopping tendencies...but I don't mind. *shrugs* They just don't know what they're missing. :)
ReplyDeleteI can especially relate to 6-10...only 9 being ladies leaving their unwanted clothes in the ladies dressing rooms. ;)
I wouldn't mind giving the girl's version of this if no one else jumps up and offers to do the guest post you mentioned. I thought of several pet peeves of mine while reading through yours.
This post was entertaining to read. Thanks for posting! :)
